Assignment 7- Madison Underwood- College is Confusing
I have no clue where I want to go to college. Frankly, I find it unreasonable and close-minded to, at this age, know exactly where you want to go and exactly what you want to study. I know I want to pursue a career in engineering and I'm looking into majoring in engineering (chemical or mechanical... leaning chemical) and minoring in Spanish and computer science. My heart has big aspirations like MIT, Stanford, or Berkeley, but my brain can't get over wasting the in-state financial aid and wonderful engineering program at UK. No matter where I go, however, I want to make the most out of my college experience. I want to live a lifestyle dependent on me- free from the wills and whims of my parents. I want to make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime and find out what kind of person I truly am. I want to study in an environment that I created and I want to be successful in that environment. But most importantly, I want to be prepared for the future. I want to create a foundation upon which I can build a career that excites me- I want to love my future, not loathe it. So while I may not know where I want to go to college, I know exactly what I want to get out of college, and I think that's a pretty good start.
