Assignment 2- Replacing Reading- Ava Nielsen

Elementary through middle school, reading was undoubtedly my favorite activity. I would spend hours everyday reading new books and series, my favorites being fantasy or mythology related. Now, I'm disappointed to say my once favored undertaking has been replaced by social media, schoolwork, and just the business of everyday life. Not only this, but required class readings have virtually sucked all the fun out of reading. However, I have read a few books in the past year. Among my favorites, although required, included The Great Gatsby. I enjoyed reading about the dramatic lives of the immensely rich as well as their downfalls, even though the ending was pretty unsatisfying. Another book I read was The Lightning Thief, which was a reread. The Percy Jackson series is definitely one of my favorites, as it's interesting and has good character development, and is based on greek mythology. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of nonfiction, even after reading The Teenage Brain. While it offers a plethora of information on teen behavior, I prefer a book with a plot over something informational. Even though I rarely read for fun anymore, I’d love to get back into reading this year, and I would appreciate recommendations too!
