Assignment 4 - Jordan Grady

As I’ve gotten older, it has become apparent that friends I’ve had for several years won’t always be as similar to myself as when we spent our free time on the playground or playing with toys. I’ve grown into some strong beliefs, beliefs that my hard headed self will always stand by. The same goes for many of my friends. However, our likemindedness of the past has not remained. It infuriates me at times that we seem to grow apart due to these differences, but at the same time it’s all a part of growing up. Our minds may have diverged from one another when it comes to politics, but we’ve still maintained our friendship. Coming to terms with the differences of others is difficult. Watching debates in preparation for the last presidential election, I found it hard to believe that friends of mine were voicing support for a candidate I despised. Yet, having contrasting views regarding politics, we’ve managed to find common ground elsewhere that has stabilized our friendships.
