Assignment 2 - Rob Gilligan - Books Books Books

In terms of my intake of information, I generally do not rely on books. I consume news and entertainment mostly through videos, articles, and magazines. Therefore, most of the books I read are usually a result of school related activities. However, I do occasionally enjoy these books, and even choose to read on my own time. Last year I read the book The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. Possibly the most entertaining book I've read for school, Tan effectively tells the story of Chinese women's cultural experiences in China and America over two generations, and eight women. The numerous stories in the book show the vast societal differences between the two countries, and force the reader to keep reading in order to understand the conclusion of each story. Not a book I thought I would enjoy going in, I was pleasantly surprised. When I was younger I was obsessed with a series called The Great Illustrated Classics. It took classical stories and condensed them for a quicker read. I bought as many of these books as possible, and often take them off the shelf to read in a couple of hours. My favorite story was The Invisible man. It never failed to provide an entertaining couple of hours.
