Assignment #2 - Andrea Dubon - Books i've read
I know in my last post i said that like reading, that's still true, however i rarely make time for it anymore which explains why the only books i've read recently were the Great Gatsby and The teenage brain like everyone other academy junior. Outside of those two i did mange to pick up Enders's Game , mainly cause i thought it was also summer reading although i did end up really enjoying it. While this list is pretty short i hope i redeem myself with how quickly i read through these, whether for deadline or enjoyment i cannot say. As for the Great Gatsby i don't know whether it was my lack of attention span, the lack of historical context, or my own preference but it didn't meet the hype that i've heard about it. I think that mainly because i've heard the story retold so many times that it lost the punch it was supposed to have but as for the writing itself Fitzgerald does a fantastic job of painting a picture for the readers, however his prose almost put me to sleep on multiple occasions "cue english teachers screaming". Even glancing at the first page of the teenage brain i could see why you chose it for us to read with our families which for similar reasons made reading it somewhat of a chore. It contained a lot of information and logical reasoning most of which made sense and i agreed with but on topic alone it didn't interest me much, but i do thank you for giving me more evidence to give to my parents. Lastly in Ender's Game i was surprised in how similar of a though process i saw between myself and the character ender, his analytical process and description of his surroundings were really weird to read cause i found myself agreeing with his logic through most of the book. I'm still angry with how this book ended mainly because it made me cry for multiple days, it was a well written book with an (in my opinion) original story line which leads me ultimately wit a sense of respect for the author.
