Assignment 6- Madison Underwood- My Love for Logic
I've always considered myself a pretty logical thinker- my math and science test scores are always superior to those of reading and writing (oh the irony as I type this as an assignment for AP Language and Composition). This year, I have put my logical thinking to the test in the form of computer coding. AP Computer Science is my favorite class in terms of content- it has introduced me to a new level of logical thinking that poses new challenges to preexisting mental processes. While I am still pretty new to the language of computers, my desire to learn more code is insatiable. The fulfillment of completing a working program invigorates the need to complete another one and the cycle never stops. Computer science is analogous to math and physics- you follow step by step processes and manipulate variables to receive an outcome. All of these subjects rely on critical thinking to solve problems. By using equations and formulas in math, the scientific method in physics, and lines of code in computer science, problems can be tackled head on and there are many instances where the overlap in these subjects is the key to finding the solution- take engineering for example. There is so much more for me to explore in these connections and in computer science in general, but while I am still very novice in my computer programming skills, I can easily say that a passion for code is forming in my very logical brain.
