My ideal college is the University of Kentucky because the engineering college has a very good program, the campus is very close to my home, and the campus is very aesthetically pleasing.
The University of Kentucky has great professors at their engineering school. Statistically speaking, it has a 90% financial aid student percentage, is the number one engineering college in state, and 72% of student receive industry experience through coops or internships. All of these are excellent reasons why you should attend UK for majoring in engineering.
I think that it is important for college to be close to your family home because you need the support that your family can provide you, like food, transportation, laundry, and some stress relief. It doesn't have to be right up the street from your family, just in the same 10 mile radius area so that you don't have to juggle getting used to college and trying to navigate a new city or area.
The scenery is a large part of college, because otherwise college become less fun and more of a job. It the same way as a cubicle job is more boring than being a golfer's caddy. It makes the college experience more exciting than without that good scenery. Aesthetics also play a huge part in deciding where to go to college. I went down to Nashville to visit my uncle, and while we were there, we strolled through the Vanderbilt campus and it was beautiful. The pseudo-Parthenon there was really nice to look at, and the park it was in was spacious and I saw a large number of students studying and hanging out there. I would have decided to go to Vanderbilt but my dad and his friend have a friendly rivalry going on because they went to UK and Vanderbilt respectively AND my dad was in the army and his friend in the navy.
These are why I would prefer to attend the University of Kentucky over anywhere else.
