Assignment 9 - William Begley - Why Fight

I think there is a time for war but only when it would lessen the damage to the people. I think the tensions with North Korea are a good example of when going directly to war would be a bad idea. With the constant propaganda that many North Koreans face, I feel like if we were to attack them, many of those we would be trying to save would stay on their side and we'd be fighting against them and hurt them too. I think humanitarian efforts and indirect fighting like assassinations would be much better in many cases as it would be the least damaging to the large majority of people. I also don't think killing is morally wrong as long as it would help more than any other thing. I think in cases where a group is attacking a less powerful group which are unable to defend themselves and are not themselves in the wrong, I do believe a stronger nation should offer assistance to those being attacked but never force it onto another group.
