Assignment 9-Katherine Henson- War

I have very conflicting views about the idea of war. On one side I hate the idea of countries fighting and killing each other. For example, WW1 is an example of why war is unnecessary and avoidable. Everything I read about that war makes me really sad because of the number of people fighting for something totally irrelevant and stupid. But when I look at World War 2 or the Civil War, my opinions change. These are two examples of necessary wars fought to protect morals and fundamental beliefs. Thinking that we should never have war is unrealistic. Human nature gives us the instincts to fight for our beliefs, and wars are unavoidable in this world. My family has a long history of veterans and service in the armed forces. My dad served as a Marine, and both my grandpa's fought in the Korean War. They have taught me the realities and necessity of war and I am thankful for their understanding of service.
