Assignment 14 - Ava Niesen

Honestly, my family's Thanksgivings change every year. This year, I had Thanksgiving with my parents, my aunt, and my cousin. In past years, we've either gone to Michigan to be with our full extended family, or we've just stayed at home, but it was a little different this year with my brother gone(overseas for college). Even so, we have some traditions that are the same no matter what. First of all, I have to watch at least a few minutes of the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade, which never fails to entertain me with its massive floats and performers. Second of all, come meal time, there has to be mac and cheese, rolls, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and basically every carb possible. Even though my aunt tried (and failed!) to get us to replace the turkey with a fish, I'm a stickler for traditional Thanksgiving foods, as long as cranberry jam is left out of the mix. perhaps my favorite part, my cousin and I always immediately excuse ourselves to go take a long walk around the park, successfully evading our dish-washing duties. After we get back, pumpkin pie is essential.
