Assignment 13- Madison Underwood- No More Pointy Things
School shootings are devastating, and yes, we should try to prevent them at all costs. But metal detectors are cumbersome and widely opposed by the majority of Fayette County's staff and student body and we are obviously getting nowhere when talking about the validity of one's right to bear arms. However, if we attack the problem at its source, these debates will be useless in today's conversations. What I propose is a global ban on all bad and sharp things. Say goodbye to cutlery and childhood arts and crafts because knives and scissors are now out of the picture. Guns would obviously fall under the category of bad things, and are to be confiscated and destroyed immediately. Not only will this promote safety on a global scale, but will even ameliorate other problems that are so polarized today such as environmental conservation and overpopulation. I'm pretty sure environmentalists would agree with me that if we took away the guns that are killing polar bears and the axes that are cutting down trees, we would see a decline in environmental destruction. And no pointy or sharp things makes cultivating food extremely difficult, promoting a survival of the fittest mode of mentality that will quickly weed out the strong from the weak. All in all, the removal of all pointy, sharp, bad, dangerous, and harmful objects is the only solution to the debate over guns and weaponry in the United States and ultimately the world.
