Assignment 12-Tag Howard
When developing a relationship with anyone, personal or otherwise, it is important to keep in mind who you are talking to. And while anyone who says you should be yourself around others is right, there is also the fact that it is never a good idea to be your whole self. Oftentimes it's better to show only the parts of your personality to somebody that best mix with theirs. This works with the idea of the verbal filter but to an even greater extent. Rather than just not using certain words around some people you don't allow certain parts of your personality to impact your interactions with them. As I would know very little about a college roommate I would begin by conservatively revealing aspects of myself so that I don't say something I'll later come to regret. After having known them for longer I would filter other aspects of myself to them in a manner suited to their personality.
