Assignment 9 - Ethan Scott - War is Necessary

I believe that we can all agree on the premise that war in and of itself is a bad thing. Wars cause so many deaths and other tragedies that no matter who you are it is likely difficult for you when you see the devastation it causes within the people that suffer directly from it. Although war will always lead to death, tragedy, and devastation, there are occasions where war is necessary and appropriate. I believe that in situations such as the United States and the Allies against the Axis powers war is morally right due to the intention of protecting not only the people of their home countries but protecting the people being oppressed like the Jewish people were in the holocaust from the Nazis and the other Axis powers. While alternatives to war may be possible, we have lived throughout history resorting to war on nearly all occasions where it seems necessary as well as some where it is clearly unnecessary so I do not believe that finding alternatives would be a realistic of effective option.
