Assignment 19-Katherine Henson-Advice
The best pieces of advice I've gotten are from my dad, mostly wisdom from his time in the military. Here are three of my favorites. The first is "do something even if it's wrong" which he was told in boot camp. This is really applicable to any situation if you ever feel stuck or clueless. I think the root of this is to make yourself look busy to please the higher-ups and comes from the same vein of Larry the Cable Guy's slogan "get er done." The next advice is "never pass up the opportunity to use the bathroom." Although it's funny, it is actually really good advice. I learned this the hard way when I passed on using a nice indoor restroom on a hiking trail and ended up having to use a porta-potty. My Dad also says "when you assume you make an ass out of you and me" which makes me laugh. But it's also a good reminder not to overthink and make assumptions about other people.
