Assignment 19- Eli Dyer- Problems

The one piece of advice that's stuck with me through my entire life is something my mom said to me. I remember this advice, partly because of its impact on me and partly because my mom repeats it every time she gets the chance.
"We don't have problems."
I don't remember the first time she said this to me, but she's been saying it for as long as I can remember. Every time I'm upset about something, whether I'm in the right or the wrong, she repeats this phrase. This piece of advice puts everything in perspective. As a white, American man, I'm truly lucky. There are billions of people who have it far worse, who experience hardship every day.
This piece of advice remains with me, and it serves to remind me I shouldn't be upset over small issues.
