Assignment 17- Hayden Caldwell- Movie Review

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_hunger_games
In elementary and middle school I was captivated by the dystopian fiction of the Hunger Games novels and couldn’t wait to see the movies when I heard they were coming out. Fortunately, this one lived up to my high expectations. Not only was the movie interesting and fast paced throughout, but it kept to the plot line of the book well, a major pitfall of many films riding the coattails of best-selling novels. This allows the saga to continue smoothly just as it did in the novels, setting up sequels nicely. Jennifer Lawrence did an excellent job portraying the teenage emotions of a young Katniss. Her dramatic reactions not only represented the outrageous circumstances she was in but also the apparent lack of emotional maturity of a character such as Katniss. The costumes were spectacular, especially the those of the citizens of the Capitol. The characters looked exactly as I envisioned them from the book. Overall this film nails the action and drama from the first book in the trilogy.
