For those that know me, I am nowhere near an openly political person, but I do have opinions. Very strong opinions about how our government should be handled and addressed by those who run it. And while I may not be the most politically educated, I can see what political education can do to a person and their perception of people, and so currently my ignorance is my bliss.
The point I'm trying to get at here is that, polarization is a dramatic issue in our society, it pits people of our country against one another. In fact it seems every aspect of our government seems to be putting us on edge. So, with that in mind, I'd like to look back to the words of our founding fathers. More specifically to Thomas Jefferson and the Deceleration of Independence where he lists certain unalienable rights granted to us. The classics are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but the one I want to bring attention to is the right to overthrow and rebuild any governments that do not please the people. So let's round up all of the major political figures and throw them into a combat arena and sit back and watch a Purge style combat while we commoners draft up new ideas and ideals regarding legal rights and how government will work. Maybe this time we'll outlaw political parties all together and make it illegal to express political bias so as no one can become divided based off of those beliefs. Only elected politicians will be able to express ideas and even then only rarely in regards to small issues.
